Sometimes I am struck by the thought that Johann Sebastian Bach is the incarnation of the Ideal Composer. His works possess the curious property of growing more mysterious each time you listen to them, and yet unveiling a little more of their profundity and poetic nature at the same time.
Every good performance allows us to discover new aspects of his music and adds something to our personal mosaic of Bach’s world. Ronald Moelker and Riko Fukuda achieve this. They offer a clear and eloquent interpretation of the most beautiful and most intimate chamber music in history.

“Moelker and Fukuda have chosen two of the most endearing and unusual examples from the sonatas for violin and cembalo. The third sonata’s Sicillano first movement has the recorder’s melodic line sailing like a boat on the rippling water of a remarkably Chopinesque keyboard part, for example, and its other movements offer further surprises.
In summary, the superb musicianship of Moelker and Fukuda and the engineer’s ideally balanced harpsichord and recorders, placed within a gently flattering ambience, is entirely at the service of the music. This is a very desirable recording for those who like Bach’s chamber music, and is a must for recorder enthusiasts. Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars for Performance, Stereo Sonics and Multichannel Sonics.”
