Vaudry features Johan Brouwer playing the harpsichord and highlighting the Italian Influences on French Music and on the Music of Bach. It follows on from my previous Taskin album Bach and the French Baroque – also available from NativeDSD in Stereo and 5 Channel DSD Surround Sound. This program is played on a copy of a 17th Century French Harpsichord, built by David Rubio in 1980 after an instrument designed by Vaudry in 1681.
Vaudry is available in Stereo and 5 Channel Surround Sound DSD 64. It is also available in 5.1.4 Channel Auro3D 96k FLAC Immersive Surround Sound. This album is not available on SACD.
The Vaudry Harpsichord with its characteristic French timbre and a more Italian mode of construction is a specific early French instrument. It is therefore more suitable for this music than the Taskin instrument of the previous album. Taskin is more based on a continuation of the Franco-Flemish tradition.
