OUR Recordings is proud to announce the Third Installment in their pioneering “Dialogue – East Meets West” series. The music of many of China’s greatest living composers and musicians remains unknown outside of their homeland. As a part of their ongoing series, “Dialogue – East Meets West”, Michala Petri and Lars Hannibal, provide the opportunity for Western and Chinese musicians and composers to creatively collaborate in a truly international, musical dialogue.

Chinese Recorder Concertos features four contemporary masterworks by Chinese, Chinese-American and Taiwanese composers recorded in stunning high resolution audio. Michala Petri’s fierce virtuosity and indefatigable musicality have never been more in evidence, creating a kaleidoscope of sound, redefining the capabilities of her instrument just as each of these composers have translated the concerto form into their own language. From Tang Jianping’s richly scored, folk-inspired Fei Ge to the fluid pentatonic romanticism Ma Shuilong’s Bamboo Flute Concerto to the vigorous and poetic re-envisionings of Ancient China presented in the works of Bright Sheng and Chen Yi, Chinese Recorder Concertos offers up a delicious, musical Feast from the East.
