Filippo Arlia

Duettango was founded in 2010 by pianist and conductor Filippo Arlia, Director of the Higher Institute of Musical Studies “PI Tchaikovsky” in Nocera Terinese and artistic director of Lamezia Classical Festival. The original group was formed by Arlia with bandoneon player Giuseppe Scigliano. Later on, the bandoneon player became Cesare Chiacchiaretta along with violinist Fernando Suarez Paz and vocalist Cecilia Suarez Paz. In recent years Duettango has given more than a hundred concerts throughout Italy and Europe. This includes concerts from the Sala Scarlatti of Naples at the International Castelfidardo Accordion Festival and the Teatro Politeama Lamezia Terme at St. Katherine Concert Hall in Vilnius (Lithuania). Duettango does research and dissemination of the tango and its union between the typical Argentine melody and compositional style of classical music. Not surprisingly, the songs performed are often arranged and transcribed by members of the duo, who are mainly classical training. The repertoire of Duettango includes numerous works by Astor Piazzolla, Carlos Gardel and Luis Bacalov.
