Pianist Amber Glynn brings us her new album Chopin Complete Waltzes, Vol. 1 on the Elkwood music label from Australia.  It was recorded at Elkwood Recording Studios in the Blue Mountains region of Sydney, Australia at Stereo 384k PCM.  The album is exclusively available in Stereo DSD and DXD at NativeDSD Music.

During his lifetime, Chopin wrote a number of pieces with the title, “Valse”, or Waltz. Unlike his famous Preludes, he did not publish the Waltzes as a single volume. In fact, during his lifetime only the first eight (up to and including the three Waltzes Op. 64) were published at all.

Since Chopin’s death in 1849, the set of works known as the “Complete” Waltzes numbers has grown to a total of eighteen, or nineteen if Posthumous KK IVb, 10 is included. (The latter is in simple triple time but is not always classified as a Waltz.) Some of the Waltzes became much-loved classics while others were lost in times of political upheaval. Each has its own story to tell.
