On the eve of the film An American In Paris turning 70, violinist Vov Dylan and pianist Glenn Amer have created a new album in celebration of the music of George Gershwin titled The Music of George Gershwin Without Words from Elkwood. It follows their previous release The Music of Cole Porter Without Words, also available from NativeDSD. This is Vov Dylan’s 3rd album at NativeDSD.
The Music of George Gershwin Without Words features S’ Wonderful, How Long Has This Been Going On?, Embraceable You, Summertime, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Our Love Is Here To Stay and several other Gershwin favorites.
Recorded at Elkwood Studios in Sydney’s Blue Mountains these sessions were undertaken in a intimate space to have the effect of being in a lounge room with the performers where every nuance of the performances can be heard. The Music of George Gershwin Without Words is exclusively available in Stereo DSD and the recorded format and bit rate of Stereo PCM 384k from NativeDSD Music.
It features 8 tracks with Violin and Piano and 5 tracks that include the Double Bass played by Mark Howard. Mark’s Double Bass is a storied instrument which was used by Arvell Shaw when he was touring with the Louis Armstrong All Stars.
